you were cast out of heaven
because you didn’t belong
you flew down perched upon a ray of hope
right into my arms
I gave you more than you bargained for
you gave me less than I need
all I wanted was a piece of your heart
sealed with a kiss
we never talked about what we wanted
when I looked in your eyes
all I saw were my own fears
but I kept them disguised
you say you feel like the tin man
empty inside
but Oz only gave the tin man
what he already had
I always hate what I can’t have
you never love what you hold
I just wanted to be your hero
I just wish we had spoken
so I have come to the end of your rainbow
all I found was a note
saying “sorry but your timing is off”
but I’ll never give up hope
